(www.autoinsidernews.com) вЂ" Ford will announce it plans to rename the slow-selling Five Hundred sedan the Taurus, according to Dow Jones Newswires. The name change will be announced at the Chicago Auto Show on Wednesday.

Last month, we reported that Ford could revive the Taurus name, but we didn't expect it happen so soon. At that time, Ford CEO Alan Mulally said the Taurus name should have never been dropped in the first place. I haven't had time to do the deep dive on why we stopped investing in Taurus, but I'd like to, he said. The Ford Five Hundred should have been the new Taurus.

Late last month, Mulally said that he was considering reviving the Taurus name. We've thought about that, he said. The Taurus brand, everybody has such fond feelings for it.

Ford revealed a restyled 2008 Five Hundred вЂ" err Taurus вЂ" at the Detroit Auto Show in January. The facelifted sedan features a new front end, with Ford's corporate three-bar signature grille, new taillamps, and a restyled, higher quality interior, reports Trend.

Ford would neither confirm nor deny the move, but did say Ford CEO Alan Mulally is a vocal advocate of the Taurus name.
