Meeting of Azerbaijani-Belarusian Inter-Governmental Economic Co-operation Commission to Take Place in Baku

Trend I.Khalilova / The fourth meeting of the Azerbaijani-Belarusian Inter-Governmental Economic Co-operation Commission will take place at the end of March in Baku, the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan stated. The experts from Belarus are expected to visit Azerbaijan on 22 March to agree up on the agenda of the meeting and project of protocol. Presently proposals are prepared. According to the Presidential order, from the Azerbaijani side, the First Vice Primer, Yagub Eyyubov, has been appointed the Chairman of the Commission and from Belarusian side - Deputy Prime Minister, Andrei Kabyakov.

As a result of 2006, the amount of the trade turnover between the two countries exceeded $30 mln, against $20 mln in 2005. It is also resulted from delivering heavy techniques for the agrarian sector of Azerbaijan over the recent years. Due to it, the representations of the Belarusian enterprises were opened in Baku.

Belarus is interested in participating in the economic projects in Azerbaijan. According to them, the machine-building industry has large potential. There are such technological production lines in Ganja Car Factory that are impossible to see in Belarus. The Belarusian business people are interested in organizing assemblage of cars. A contract has already been signed to implement this project. The business people are interested in the potential of Sabunchu and B.Sardarov machine-building plants. Negotiations have already been held concerning organization of the production of tractors and other agricultural techniques in Azerbaijan.
