Azerbaijan May Increase Gas Price for Georgia in 2008 – SOCAR’s First Vice-President

Ramazanova / In 2008, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) will re-consider the price for gas exported to Georgia, Khoshbakht Yusifzadeh, the First Vice-President of SOCAR on Geology, Geophysics and Development, said to journalists on 18 December. He did not specify the new price for gas. Presently, SOCAR sells its gas to Georgia at $120 per 1,000 cu m.

According to Yusifzadeh, SOCAR daily sells 1.7mln cu m of gas to Georgia. "This volume will be sustained by the end of the year," he said.

The volume of gas to be exported to Georgia by SOCAR in 2008 has not been defined yet. Georgia's annual gas demand makes up some 2bln cu m.
