Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend S.Aliyev / In 2008 the Heydar Aliyev Baku Oil Refinery Plant and Azneftyag plant of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) plans to refine 7.63mln tons of oil, Davud Mammadov, the SOCAR Vice President for Refinery, said. This volume will exceed the refinery volume fixed in 2007.
The Vice President of SOCAR said that next year the major accent will be put on the production of petrol and diesel fuel. This year Azerbaijan used mazut in winter period for the electricity production following the refusal from the Russian gas imports.
In January to November 2007 the total volume of oil refinery at the Azerbaijani oil refinery plants made up 6.86mln tons as compared to 6.79mln in the same period of 2006.
