SOCAR Assesses Mineable Reserves of Prospective Offshore Umid Field

Azerbaijan, Baku, 26 January / Trend corr S. Aliyev / Mineable reserves in the prospective offshore Umid field make up 50bln cu m of gas, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) reported on 26 January.

"Six wells are planned to be drilled from Umid-1 for further gas production," the source said.

SOCAR has already commenced construction of a new duo-block deep-sea platform Umid-1. The construction is held at the Baku Deep Water Jacket Plant named after Heydar Aliyev.

The new platform will be set up 15km of the Bula Deniz field in the Umid field at the depth of 60m.

According to the SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev, construction of the new platform will be completed in September. Drilling of the first exploratory well from the platform will be launched in December.
