Iranian Gas Export via Nabucco Depend upon European Consumers - Nabucco Gas Pipeline Company’s Managing Director

Azerbaijan, Baku, 23 April / Trend corr. A.Badalova / Nabucco Gas Pipeline Company is interested in transporting the gas via Nabucco pipeline from Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan to Europe, Reinhard Mitschek, Nabucco Gas Pipeline Company's Managing Director stated.

According to him, the first gas supply via Nabucco pipeline will be launched in 2013 with 8bln or 10bln cu m per year. The maximum carrying capacity of Nabucco is 31bln cu m.

Mitschek noted significance of the Iranian gas for Europe. "Iranian gas is also very important for the region. Nabucco Gas Pipeline Company suggests capacity for transport and European consumers will definitely purchase gas," Mitschek stated.

The project is estimated at $6.6bln. The Nabucco gas pipeline will ensure the gas delivery via the Mediterranean and Caspian Sea to Europe via Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania, and Austria. Nabucco will transport gas from Azerbaijan and Central Asia to the EU. The gas from Central Asia to Nabucco may be delivered via the planned Tran-Caspian pipeline. The Trans-Caspian gas pipeline will extend to Azerbaijan, where the gas reserves are expected to comprise 6trln cu m, from the Caspian coast of Kazakhstan or Turkmenistan. The Mediterranean gas from Azerbaijan to the end of Nabucco pipeline is delivered via the currently existing South Caucasus gas pipeline (Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum).
