Oil Transport via BTC Pipeline by Tengizchevroil in December Announced

Azerbaijan, Baku, 13 November / Trend / In December 2008, the Tengizchevroil company will  transport 2.4mln barrels of oil via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline, the Energy Intelligence Group Inc reported. Oil will be shipped in four lots.

Under the agreement, the Tengiz oil will be transported via BTC and by railway to Georgian ports of Kulevi and Batumi. The transported oil consignments will be shared equally.

Oil from Kazakhstan is delivered from Baku by tankers and injected into BTC or transportd by railway to Georgian Black Sea terminals.

ChevronTexaco is the operator of the Kazakh Tengiz oil field. Tengizchevroil developes the contact area.

The total length of BTC is 1,768km and 443km of which passes Azerbaijan, 249 km- Georgia and 1,076 km - Turkey.

BTC Company shareholders are BP (30.1%); AzBTC (25%); Chevron (8.90%); Statoil Hydro (8.71%); ТРАО (6.53%); Eni (5%); Total (5%); Itochu (3.40%); Inpex (2.50%); ConocoPhillips (2.50%) and Hess (2.36%). Pipeline's design carrying capacity is 1mln barrels of oil per day.

The Azerbaijani State Oil Company (SOCAR) is the owner of the Kulevi terminal and KazMunaygas  - port of Batumi.
