BTC transports over 33mln of oil in Jan.-Nov.

The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) transported about 33.4 million tons of oil through Turkey in January to November, 2009, SOCAR reported. As of Dec.1, the BTC has transported 103.7 million tons of oil since the start of the pipeline.

In the November, BTC transported about 2.9 million tons of the Azerbaijani oil.

In January-November, the Turkish port of Ceyhan transshipped 33.5 million tons of Azerbaijani oil to the world market. In November the figure was 2.8 million tons. As of Dec.1, the BTC has transported 101.9 million tons of Azerbaijani oil to the world market since the start of the pipeline.

The BTC transports mainly the Azerbaijani oil branded Azeri Light and small volumes of the Kazakh oil from the Tengiz field. In January-November the BTC transported 1.8 million tons of oil from the Tengiz field. The index was 188,700 tons of oil in November.

The total length of BТС is 1.768 kilometers including the 443 kilometer section running via Azerbaijan, the 249 kilometer section via Georgia and the 1.076 kilometer via Turkey. Construction of the pipeline began in April 2003 and it was filled with oil on May 18, 2005.

A total of $4bilion has been spent for the construction of BTC not including fill-up of pipeline, financial expenses and payment of the bank rates. The credit allocated for the project totaled $2.6bilion.

BTC Co. shareholders include BP (30.1%); AzBTC (25%); Chevron (8.90%); Statoil Hydro (8.71%); ТРАО (6.53%); Eni (5%); Total (5%); Itochu (3.40%); Inpex (2.50%); ConocoPhillips (2.50%) and Amerada Hess (2.36%).
