SOCAR announces amount of commercial gas sold in Georgia

SOCAR Georgia Gas (a subsidiary of SOCAR Energy Georgia) sold about 140 million cubic meters of commercial gas at the Georgian market in 2009, a source in the company SOCAR Energy Georgia, which represents SOCAR's (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) interests at the Georgian market.

"About 140 million cubic meters of commercial gas was sold at the Georgian market in 2009," the source said.

In November 2008, Azerbaijan and Georgia signed an agreement which enable SOCAR to become more active on the Georgian gas market during the next five years, beginning from 2009.

In accordance with the memorandum, SOCAR has established a subsidiary SOCAR Georgia Gas for implementation of the project, which provides Georgian consumers with gas.

SOCAR Energy Georgia is subsidiary of SOCAR and deals with the distribution and marketing of oil and oil products in Georgia. The company sells oil and oil products at the Georgian market. SOCAR Georgia co-founders include: SOCAR - 51 percent, Petro-Trans FZCO - 32.7 percent and Ivan Chkhartishvili -16.3 percent.
