SOCAR launches new oil well in Caspian Sea

The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) put into operation a new oil well at the offshore Oily Rocks fields today.

The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) put into operation a new oil well at the offshore Oily Rocks fields today.

The depth of the well is 2,635 meters. Roughly 65 tons of oil will be produced daily from the well at an interval of 2,570-2,590 meters.

The well was put into operation on the Oily Rocks-1887 Platform, which has operated from September 2006. So far, 22 wells have been drilled and put into operation on the platform.

The residual recoverable oil and gas reserves at Oily Rocks exceed 182 million tons. Geological reserves amount to 365 million tons. Oily Rocks will be developed until 2035.
