The most serious environmental problems for Azerbaijan are oil-polluted lands and semi-nomadic cattle-breeding, Huseyn Bagirov, Minister of Environment and Natural Resources, reported on Friday.

"To solve them is a matter of time. The remaining issues are solvable and being solved" - Bagirov said.

According to Bagirov, the ministry continues to identify environmental violations in the work of companies in Azerbaijan.

"There are few violations and they are maintained on complaints. People signal about environmental pollution. Hotline is working well. As for BP, their approach to work, technology, accompanied by a concern for the environment. Despite this, an incident happens on their platforms. They inform us about the incidents and based on this information we fine them, "- Bagirov said.

According to Bagirov, environmental violations are observed in the activities of companies that use long operated oil territory.

"The territories requiring treatment create environmental tension. At the same time SOCAR continues to cleaning work on their lands. It is also the problem of creating industrial enterprises remained from Soviet times. But mostly, the biological diversity and reduction of forest area affected by semi-nomadic herding "- Bagirov said.
