Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev called on the government members to immediately begin addressing energy security issues in the country, Kyrgyz President said at the oath-taking ceremony of members of the new cabinet of ministers at the parliament on Wednesday, KyrTAG reported.

"We need to ensure the country's energy security, and commission the Datka-Kemin substation. This issue should be addressed. Old cable lines should be changed. We should not leave our people without power," the President said.

The President stressed that the main issue is seeking means to solve the problems.
"If there is a need for loans - take them. China is ready to provide loans for this sector.

There are funds received from shares in Centerra Gold and other projects. When we shall use them if not in such difficult times like now," Atmabayev said.

President highly stressed the need to develop its own oil production.

"Kyrgyzstan has its own oil, within two years it is necessary to address this issue. We must provide the country with its gasoline, electricity and gas," Atambayev added.

Speaking on the new government's priorities, Atambayev also stressed the need to strengthen the fight against corruption.

"According to the prosecutor general, the budget suffered losses at 24 billion soums as a result of corruption. Political will is required to fight the corruption. We have the political will. Even Prosecutor's Office fails to show effective results in the fight against corruption, on the contrary, some officials of Prosecutor's Office is involved in it," Atmabayev said.
