National Welfare Fund of Kazakhstan ready to refinance debts of KazMunaiGas

The National Welfare Fund "Samruk-Kazyna" suggests to refinance debts of the national oil and gas company of Kazakhstan, "KazMunaiGas" at the expense of the bonded loan from the national fund worth $4 billion until 2015, chairman of the board of the National Welfare Fund "Samruk-Kazyna" Umirzak Shukeyev told reporters on Friday.

"The Fund during this month developed a proposal for funding "KazMunaiGas"at the expense of the bonded loan from the National fund worth about $4 billion by 2015. In particular, it is a refinancing of debt associated with the "Kashagan"and "Rumpetrol" projects"- Mr Shukeyev said.

He noted the proposed structure will significantly improve the financial position of "KazMunayGas".

"We plan to bring the matter to the consideration of the Council for Economic Planning (SEP), although this issue was discussed with all members of the SEP and they support this idea," - Mr Shukeyev said.

"KazMunayGas" is Kazakhstan's national operator for exploration, production, processing and transportation of hydrocarbons, representing the state's interests in oil and gas industry of Kazakhstan.
