The work to construct the Janub gas turbine station is nearing completion, Azerenergy told Trend on Tuesday.
According to Azerenergy, the power plant will be commissioned by the end of the year.
"Works are conducted successfully and are nearing completion. In the coming months this energy facility can be put into operation," the company said.
Power plant will be 780 MW. It will work on the three types of fuel - gas, diesel and fuel oil. From this point of view, this power plant is unique and has no analogues in the countries of Eastern Europe and the CIS.
The new facility will enhance energy security on the Absheron peninsula and southern regions of the country, as well as improve efficiency of power transmission and distribution systems.
