Volume of foreign investments in oil and gas projects in Azerbaijan to exceed $ 40 billions

According to SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) information materials the total volume of direct investments made by foreign companies in oil and gas projects within 1995-2012 amounted to 40.8 billion dollars.

As of the end of 2011, this indicator amounted to 38.45 billion dollars against 40 33.1 billion dollars in 2010.

As of August 1, the volume of investments made in the project on development of oil gas field block Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli in Azerbaijani sector of Caspian Sea, amounted to 28.67 billion dollars.

The contract on development of major oil field Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli was signed in 1994.

The individual share of the contract is distributed as follows: 35.78 % falls to BP's share ,Chevron- 11.27 %, Inpex-10.96 %, AzACG-11.65 %, Statoil - 8.56 %, Exxon - 8%, TPAO - 6.75 %,Itocu - 4.3 % . 2.72 % falls to the share of HESS, which sold it's share to ONGC, the transaction to be completed by 2013.

According to SOCAR materials, the volume of investments in the framework of development of gas condensate field 'Shah Deniz' as of August 1 exceeded 7 billion dollars.

The general reserves of the Shah Deniz field are estimated to 1.2 trillion cubic meters of gas

The contract on the development of the Shah Deniz oil field was signed on June 4 1996. The contract participants are BP with 25 %, Statoil -25.5 %, NICO -10%, Total -10%, Lukoil -10%, TPAO -9% and SOCAR with 10 %.
