Turkey reduces electricity generation and consumption

Electricity generation has dropped by 6.1 percent and hit 17.7 billion kilowatt / hour in Turkey in October 2012 compared to the same month of 2011, reaching, the report of the Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) said today.

In October 2012 it decreased by 4.2 percent amounting to 18.1 billion kilowatt / hour compared to October 2011.

It increased by 5.8 percent from January to October 2012 compared to the same period of 2011. The figure hit 200.1 billion kilowatt / hour.

Electricity imports to Turkey for 10 months amounted to 4.4 billion kilowatt / hour.

Electricity consumption for the period increased by 6.2 percent amounting to 201.8 billion kilowatt / hour compared to the same period of 2011.

Turkey exported 2.7 billion kilowatt / hours of electricity from January to October 2012.
