SOCAR to expand gas station network in Azerbaijani regions

Next year the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) plans to construct four new gas stations in the country’s regions, a source at SOCAR told Trend on Thursday.

Next year the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) plans to construct four new gas stations in the country's regions, a source at SOCAR told Trend on Thursday.

As the source said, in particular the new gas stations are planned to be built in the Ganja-Gazakh (west of the country) and Sheki-Balaken (north-west of Azerbaijan) regions.

"There will be other gas stations in the regions. Construction of new gas stations in Baku next year is not yet planned," the source said.

Also, according to the source, at present, work is underway on the construction of two gas stations in the Siyazan region (104 km from Baku) in Azerbaijan. Two new gas stations are planned to be commissioned early next year.

"Work on the construction of two new stations is nearing completion, and in early 2013, will be commissioned," the source said.

At present, there are 15 gas stations in Azerbaijan operating under the SOCAR brand.

SOCAR has a large network of gas stations in Georgia. It is gradually opening gas stations in Ukraine and Romania. SOCAR also acquired a large network of gas stations in Switzerland.
