Kazakhstan's Aktau port reduces oil cargo transshipment by over 1 million tons

Aktau International Sea Trade Port (AISTP) of Kazakhstan transshipped some 5.75 million tons of oil cargo in January-November compared to 7.05 million tons in the same period of 2012.

Aktau International Sea Trade Port (AISTP) of Kazakhstan transshipped some 5.75 million tons of oil cargo in January-November compared to 7.05 million tons in the same period of 2012, a message posted on the port's official website said.

The port transshipped about 7.6 million tons of oil compared to more than 8.03 million tons in 2011, the message said.

A part of the oil transshipped through the port of Aktau is transported to Baku, where it is delivered by railway to the Black Sea ports of Georgia.

In particular, in January-November, some 629,000 tons of the total volume of cargos transshipped by the dry-cargo port consisted of metal products, about 1.85 million tons of ferry cargos, 472,000 tons of grain, and 537,000 tons of other cargos, according to the message.

Totally, the port handled around 9.24 million tons of cargo in January-November, which is 3.7 percent more than the forecasted volume.

The number of ship callings at the port has amounted to 1,506 since 2013.
