Oil and gas companies' costs in Azerbaijan reach about $4M within social responsibility

Some $3.84 million were spent in January-September 2014 for social responsibility projects conducted as part of the projects that are operated in Azerbaijan by the British company BP, the company's report said.

The British company's report covered its work in Azerbaijan between January and September 2014.

In particular, the costs as part of the project for development of the unit of Azerbaijani offshore fields Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli totalled $0.29 million in January-September.

The costs within the development of the gas and condensate field Shah Deniz in the same period stood at $0.29 million, the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan and Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipelines - at $0.58 million.

BP, which participates in all these energy projects, spent some $2.68 million within its own social responsibility projects.

In the first half of 2014, the costs of execution of contracts and orders within the energy projects, which are operated by BP, stood at $969 million versus $1.02 billion in January-June 2013.

The BP report said the costs of contracts for small and medium-sized enterprises (including a total of 180 individuals) were $378 million, state-owned companies (27 companies) - $65 million, and joint ventures with a local partner (13 joint ventures) - $240 million.

The costs of foreign contractors in Azerbaijan amounted to $286 million in the first half of 2014.
