Iran ups gas supplies to Turkey

Iran exported 5.04 billion cubic meters of gas to Turkey in January-August 2016, as compared to 4.87 billion cubic meters in the same period of 2015, said the report published on the website of Turkey’s Energy Market Regulatory Authority.

Iran exported 5.04 billion cubic meters of gas to Turkey in January-August 2016, as compared to 4.87 billion cubic meters in the same period of 2015, said the report published on the website of Turkey’s Energy Market Regulatory Authority.

In 2015, Iran exported 7.83 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Turkey, as compared to 8.93 billion cubic meters in 2014.

Turkey imported 29.96 billion cubic meters of gas in January-August 2016 and 24.85 billion cubic meters of this volume were imported via pipelines, while 5.11 billion cubic meters accounted for the import of liquefied natural gas (LNG), according to the report.

Iran accounted for 16.8 percent of Turkey’s total gas import in January-August 2016.

Iranian gas is delivered to Turkey via the Tabriz-Ankara gas pipeline with the capacity of 14 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
