By Rufiz Hafizoglu – Trend:

The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey told Trend Nov. 17 that it has issued a license for the country's Calik Petrol Arama Uretim Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S. company to conduct oil reconnaissance for a period of five years.

The company will conduct oil reconnaissance in Turkey’s southeastern provinces of Siirt and Sirnak, according to the ministry.

“The company applied to the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey for the license in October 2014,” the ministry said.

According to the Turkish ministry’s report, 56 (54 on- and two off-shore) wells in total were drilled as a part of the exploration of new oil and gas fields.

In April 2014, a legislature allowing oil exploration in forests and national parks came into force in Turkey.
