Kazakhstan's KazTransOil plans to transport up to 80,000 tons of Russian oil via its pipeline in the direction of Uzbekistan by late 2017.

"Within the framework of the Sept.16 agreement between the Government of Kazakhstan and the Government of Uzbekistan on some issues of cooperation in the field of energy, deliveries of the Russian oil via the pipeline system Omsk-Pavlodar-Shymkent- Shagyr oil loading platform (loading in railway tanks) of KazTransOil JSC was launched Nov.16," the company said in a message Nov.20.

The beginning of the transit of Russian oil to Uzbekistan is an important event for KazTransOil JSC and for Kazakhstan in terms of increasing the attractiveness of the country's transit potential, KazTransOil JSC General Director Dimash Dosanov said.

"Technically, we were ready for transportation of additional volumes of oil in this direction for a long time, the oil will be pumped through the pipeline to the oil loading platform of Shagyr, where it will be poured into railway tanks and then transported by rail to Uzbekistan. In November it is planned to transport 30,000 tons. By late 2017, it is planned to transport up to 80,000 tons of oil along this route, "he said.

As of Nov. 20, 2017, 20,950 tons were accepted into the system of trunk oil pipelines of JSC "KazTransOil".

Gasoline production in Uzbekistan in 2010-2016, decreased by 26.2 percent, diesel fuel - by 8.3 percent. Furthermore, imports of hydrocarbons increased 1.3 times.

To change the situation, agreements were reached on pumping Russian oil through Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan. In addition, the government decided to modernize the existing oil refineries and build a new one in the Jizzakh region.
