Turkey and China have signed an agreement on the construction of wind power plants, Turkish media reported June 9.

Reportedly, wind power plants will be built in Aydin and Manisa provinces.

The total cost of the project is $168.5 million, and the construction of wind power plants will be implemented by the Smart Growth Holding Company.

Earlier, it was reported that 10 wind power plants will be built in Turkey within two years.

Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Berat Albayrak said earlier that Turkey plans to invest $1 billion in the development of renewable energy sources.

Albayrak noted that the construction of new power plants will increase Turkey's energy security and reduce dependence on other countries.

The minister also believes that the new project on the development of renewable energy sources will provide jobs for about 3,750 people.

Wind power plants will be located in five regions of Turkey, including the capital city of Ankara.
