The managing director of Iran Gas Engineering and Development Company said the government plans to lay over 1,000 kilometers of gas pipelines and link them to the national gas grid by the end of the current Iranian year (started March 21).
“By the year-end, over 1,000 kilometers of gas pipelines will be laid and come online,” Hassan Montazer Torbati said, ISNA reported on September 30.
He added Iran Gas Engineering and Development Company, as a subsidiary of the National Iranian Gas Company, is the main contractor of gas development projects in Iran and is resolved to fully implement the project.
According to published reports, Iran holds the world's second-largest natural gas reserves after Russia.
