Kazakhstan produced a record amount of oil and gas in 2018, Trend reports referring to the Kazakh media.

"2018 was a record year for the fuel and energy complex of the country. More than 90 million tons of oil and over 55 billion cubic meters of gas were produced," Deputy Energy Minister of Kazakhstan Sabit Nurlybay said at the presentation of the Environmental Responsibility Rating of Oil and Gas Companies in Kazakhstan.

It should be noted that in 2017 oil production reached 86.2 million tenge, which was 10.5 percent more year-on-year. This growth significantly helped the country achieve a 4-percent GDP growth.

The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) of Russia, the CREON Group and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), in turn, noted that such impressive indicators should also provide adequate measures to reduce the impact on the environment.

Nurlybay noted that the Energy Ministry has started actualizing the Environmental Code of Kazakhstan.
