Eni has signed up to a pan-European open innovation platform, Startup Europe Partnership (SEP), led by international advisory firm Mind the Bridge, Trend reports citing Eni.

Launched in 2014 at the World Economic Forum in Davos, SEP's aim is to create synergy between the best innovative start-ups in Europe by connecting them with big companies and the main international stock markets, reads the message on Eni’s website.

“The first event for Eni is the Scaleup Summit in Milan, which will take place on 11 and 12 March at Borsa Italiana's headquarters in Palazzo Mezzanotte. This will be followed by Summits at the London, Stuttgart and Madrid stock exchanges (in June, October and December, respectively),” said the company.

Through the SEP program, Eni said it aims to find innovative digital solutions that will help it achieve its goals of decarbonization, spreading circular economic models and environmentally sustainable practices, as well as further improving safety in its plants and workplaces.

The initiative is part of Eni's strategy to speed up its digital transformation by working with the best start-ups in Italy and other countries, and to help develop a positive network of potential leaders in technological innovation within sectors it considers strategic, according to the message.

Eni is an Italian company with a worldwide presence. It is one of the global oil and gas super-players – operating in 71 countries worldwide and employing around 33,000 people.

As of March 31, 2018, the company's market capitalization was calculated at $64 billion. In May 2017, Forbes magazine listed Eni among the top 500 global companies in terms of market capitalization, while the Fortune Global 500 ranked Eni among the top 150 companies by revenue.
