Azerbaijan significantly increases electricity exports

In January-March 2019, Azerbaijan exported 891.2 million kilowatt/hours of electricity worth $38.4 million under customs declarations, in comparison to 700.24 million kilowatt/hours of electricity worth $33.9 million exported over the same period of 2018, Trend reports referring to a report by the State Customs Committee.

Furthermore, Azerbaijan exported 1.4 billion kilowatts/hours of electricity under customs declarations in 2018, compared to 1.2 billion kilowatts/hours exported in 2017.

The main producer of electricity in Azerbaijan is OJSC "Azerenergy", which has hundreds of substations and dozens of power plants on its balance sheet.

The generation capacity of the power system of Azerbaijan is 7172.6 megawatts, which allows for generating about 24 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually.
