Bahamian oil company transfers part of its licenses for oil&gas exploration in Turkey

Bahamian Oil Company Transatlantic Turkey Ltd. transferred part of its licenses for gas and oil exploration in Turkey to Australian company Transatlantic Exploration Mediterranean International Pty Ltd, Trend reports referring to Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources.

Transatlantic Turkey Ltd transferred its licenses to Transatlantic Exploration Mediterranean International Pty Ltd to a 25 percent share in exploration.

According to the ministry, Transatlantic Turkey Ltd had a license for oil and gas exploration in the Turkey's southeastern province of Diyarbakir.

Transatlantic Turkey Ltd applied to the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey in May 2019 to transfer the license for oil and gas exploration.

A law permitting oil exploration in forests and national parks came into force in Turkey in April 2014.

As reported, a total of 56 wells have been drilled as part of exploration of new oil and gas fields in Turkey since 2014, of which 54 are onshore and two are offshore.
