Turkmenistan supporting Afghanistan in energy sector

The Turkmen Energy Ministry is donating a big transformer to Afghanistan, along with the appropriate equipment, as humanitarian aid, Trend reports with reference to the Turkmen presidential order.
In recent years, Afghanistan has been receiving electricity and liquefied natural gas from Turkmenistan at preferential prices along the Ymamnazar-Andkhoy and Serhetabat-Herat transmission lines. A year ago, the Rabatkashan-Kalainau border transmission line was commissioned to supply Turkmen electricity to Afghanistan’s northern regions.
In accordance with the Turkmen Program for Socio-Economic Development, the total amount of electricity to be produced in the country in the next seven years is planned to be increased to 33 billion kilowatt hours.
