Iran discloses oil production volume on North Azadegan field

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Jan. 18

More than 100 million barrels of heavy oil were extracted from North Azadegan oil field which is situated in Iran’s south-western Khuzestan province, which is a joint oil field of Iran and Iraq, executor of North Azadegan oil field development project Ismayil Gulampour said.

“The oil production on the field was officially launched in March-April 2016,” the executor of the project said, Trend reports referring to the Iranian Petroleum Engineering and Development Company.

Gulampour added that oil is constantly extracted on the field and exported.

North Azadegan oil field covering 460 square kilometers is located 120 km west of Ahwaz, Khuzestan province, on the border with Iraq.

In accordance with the oil field development project, 75,000 barrels of crude oil and 1.1 million cubic meters (39 million cubic feet) of gas are planned to be produced daily.

The reserves of North Azadegan oil field reach 5.6 billion barrels of crude oil and 279 million barrels of that volume may be extracted.
