Iran's Headquarters for Transportation and Fuel Management is monitoring fuel consumption in the country, as well as process of scrapping vehicles, newly appointed head of public relations in the headquarters Saeed Vaziri told Trend.
He pointed out that monitoring fuel consumption is one of the missions of the Headquarters.
"The Headquarters for Transportation and Fuel Management also has the responsibility to evaluate and review the process of scrapping cars and motor bikes," he added.
"Issuing permit for scrapping vehicles after being confirmed by Iran police and following the necessary procedures are other duties," he said.
"The headquarters is cooperating with all related organizations in the field of transportation to renovate the transportation fleet," he added.
Previous reports said Headquarters for Transportation and Fuel Management Supervisor Mohsen Sadeghi has appointed Saeed Varzi as the head of public relation in the headquarters.
