Turkmenistan, Mitsubishi talk commercial gas production at new plant

Turkmenistan and Japan have discussed the preparation of a preliminary technical project for a plant to produce 10 billion cubic meters of commercial gas per year, Trend reports with reference to “Zolotoy Vek” (Golden Age) newspaper.

The mentioned issue was discussed during a videoconference with representatives of the Japanese Mitsubishi Corporation that was held in Turkmenhimiya and Turkmengas state concerns on May 22, 2020.

During the talks, parties discussed the implementation of previous agreements and new prospects for cooperation in chemical, oil and gas industries.

In general, partnership in aforesaid industries is beneficial for both sides. Key aspects of cooperation in this field is the diversification of industry, creation of infrastructure of export gas and innovative industrial sectors specializing in processing of natural gas, to produce polymers and other chemical products.

Turkmenistan and Japan have experience in chemical, oil and gas sector. One example of their experience is the commissioning of large Garabogazkarbamid plant in Turkmenistan, that manufactures nitrogen fertilizers, which are in the high demand on the world market.

The working visit of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Japan last year gave a new impetus to relations between the countries. Within the framework of this visit, a number of documents were signed, including those that were related to the implementation of the project to build a new plant for the production of ammonia and urea in Turkmenistan with the participation of Mitsubishi.
