Contracts signed to increase oil and gas extraction in Iran

Thirteen contracts were signed between the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) and 12 Iranian universities and a Research Center today on September 21, to research ways to increase oil extraction in Iran, Trend reports citing the NIOC’s website.

According to the report, the value of the 13 contracts amounts 35 million euros and 7.16 trillion rials (about $170 million).

“These contracts will be signed as a continuation of 9 agreements signed in 2014 on technical research and development of oil fields,” the report said.

Thus, so far, 22 oil and gas fields have been entrusted to Iranian universities and Research Center to research and increase the extraction. The total value of these contracts is 10 trillion rials (about $240 million) and 49 million euros, the report noted.

According to the report, thus, the exploration of the Yadavaran field will be entrusted to the Tehran University, the South Pars field to the Sharif University of Technology, the Alvand field to the Amirkabir University of Technology, the Rag Sefid field to the Research Institute of Petroleum Industry, and the Masjed Soleyman field to the Sahand University of Technology in Tabriz.

“In addition, the exploration of the Esfand field will be entrusted to Shiraz University, the Forouzan field to the Petroleum University of Technology, the Khesht field to the Islamic Azad University, the Binak field to the Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, the Dorud field to the Iran University of Science and Technology, the Tang-e Bijar field to the Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz,” the report added.

At the same time, the exploration of the Marun field will be entrusted to the Isfahan University of Technology and the Nowruz field to the Persian Gulf University, according to the report.
