There are a lot of business opportunities in Uzbekistan for Austrian companies and they include energy and energy efficiency projects, the Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology of Austria told Trend.

According to the Austrian ministry, Uzbekistan is Austria's second most important economic partner in Central Asia.

The majority of Austrian exports to Uzbekistan are machinery and vehicles, followed by chemical products, food and processed goods and other manufactured goods.

Also, the ministry added that the Almaty Foreign Trade Center has been looking after the future market of Uzbekistan since August 2018 and last visited Tashkent and Samarkand in February 2020 with almost 40 Austrian companies.

“This delegation was the largest Austrian business mission ever to visit Uzbekistan,” the ministry stressed.

During the last meeting of the Austrian-Uzbek Joint Commission for bilateral trade and economic relations in April 2019, Austrian companies expressed interest in a stronger participation in the modernization process of Uzbekistan and requested information on planned projects at the earliest possible stage so that a participation within the framework of the Fund for Development and Reconstruction of Uzbekistan can be examined in detail.

Moreover, the ministry informed that Austrian Andritz, ILF and Voith Hydro companies submitted memoranda with proposals and concerns regarding cooperation with Uzbekistan in the energy sector.
