Iran’s Mashhad TPP boosts electricity generation

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept. 27

The electricity generation of the Mashhad Thermal Power Plant in the Razavi Khorasan Province (north-eastern Iran) increased by 13 percent during first six months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, the Head of Mashhad TPP, Amir Talebi Torghabeh said, Trend reports citing Iran’s Thermal Power Plants Holding Company’s website.

According to Talebi Torghabeh, the Mashhad TPP generated over 1 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity within the mentioned period.

The official added that about 51 percent of the electricity was generated by steam units, while 49 percent by gas units.

Reportedly, Iran's Mashhad TPP is located on an area of 35 hectares. The power plant has 8 units (4 gas and 4 steam units). Although the TPP has a capacity to generate 376 megawatt-hours of electricity, the power plant currently generates about 328 megawatt-hours of electricity, as 1 steam unit does not operate.
