Iran ready to boost electricity exchange with SCO member states

TEHRAN, Iran, October 12. Iran's Deputy Energy Minister Homayoun Haeri said Iran`s capacity to generate 88,000 megawatt-hours of electricity is a great advantage for the Shanghai Security Organization, Trend reports citing IRNA.

The official noted the stable electricity grid and the existence of great experts in Iran`s electricity industry both in the network control and in the repair and operation sectors.

Referring to Iran's ability to build power plants, Haeri pointed to the country's readiness to exchange energy with the member countries of the SCO.

Iran signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to become the ninth full member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) during its two-day summit meeting held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, on September 15-16.
