SOCAR MOVES ON PRODUCTION DRILLING, OFFSHORE AZERBAIJAN

The State oil company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) started the drilling of another development well, #73, at the shallow water Gunashli oil field, following a success of the previous hole, #72, which tested the inflow of crude oil and gas at the rates of 100 tons and 150,000 cubic meters per day.

The well has a planned drilling depth of 3,900 meters; so far the drilling has encountered horizons some 405 meters beneath the sea bottom. The operations are carried out from the permanent offshore platform (POP), #19.

There are two more production wells under drilling at the field. The first oiler, #430, is drilled from the POP # 13 to the planned depth of 4,100 meters, following the company’s decision to drill 300 meters deeper, in order to encounter productive pay-zones.
