Gasprom sends a letter to Azerbaijan in relation to gas delivery

Gasprom STC, the daughter enterprise of Russian Gaseksport, sent a letter to Azerbaijan in relation to discussion of fuel delivery to the country in 2006, the Baku representation of Gaseksport told Trend.

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and Gasprom signed a contract on gas delivery from 2005 to 2006 at $60/1,000 cu me in 2005 and $61/1,000 cu m in 2006.

Gaseksport delivered 3.78bn cu m gas to Azerbaijan from January to October 2005 against 3.93bn cu m over 10 months of 2004. SOCAR plans to purchase around 4.5bn cu m gas. Natural gas is transported to the country via the Shirvanovka-GaziMammad pipeline.

According to Natig ALiyev, the President of SOCAR, Russia sells gas to other CIS countries at $140-160 /1,000 cu m. “If they proposed the same price to us, we will refuse from gas purchase,” he underlined.
