Georgian incapable of coping with electricity supply from Azerbaijan

The Georgian energy system is unable to cope with the electricity capacity supplied by Azerbaijan and it causes incidents in the lines, Saleh Mammadov, senior engineer of Azerenergy Joint Sock Company, told Trend.

According to Mammadov, the Georgian system is capable of admitting no more than 50MW. However, high demand for electricity in this country makes increase the supply to 70MW and the system wrecks. Nevertheless, Azerbaijan is ready at any time to supply energy to Georgia, Mammadov said.

Starting from 22 January Azerbaijan has delivered 30MW electricity to Georgia. Since 26 January the volumes have comprised 70 MW in noon-hours and 100 MW in rush hours.
