Azneft Oil and Gas Production Association of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) is about to complete drilling of appraisal and pre-drilling well in the southern part of the West Absheron field, the SOCAR told Trend.
Drilling of the appraisal well with the project depth of 750 meters is carried out with Absheron rig. At present columns are thrown into the well, the SOCAR told Trend Work over drilling of pre-drilling wells is carried out with Khazar rig. The project depth of the well is 780 meters.
The SOCAR said that the field is efficient for development due to its location near to the coast, as well as existing communications for oil transportation. At present the delimitation and estimation of reserves are being carried out. The depth of the well is some 800 -1000 meters.
By the end of the year the SOCAR intends to install a producing platform in the southern part of West Absheron field. It will be installed in the coastal zone in a distance of 40-50 meters from the shore. According to specialists, the field has 1.5 million of fuel equivalent and recoverable reserves.
