Foreign companies cut offshore production 17.4% in Azerbaijan

In January to February 2006 the joint ventures and operating companies involved in onshore operations lifted 18, 370 cu m of gas. It is 17.4% less than previous year, the SOCAR told Trend.

Major part of gas production fell on Anshad Petrol which produced 6, 516m cu m of gas in this period, or 2.1% more than 2005. the company sells the vacant gas to Azerbaijan.

At present the SOCAR sells its gas only to Anshad Petrol and Gobustan Operating Company. Over the first two months of 2006 the company produced 368,000 cu m of gas, or 607.7% more than last year.
