Azerbaijan Increases Oil and Gas Production

In January-Novmber, 2006, Azerbaijan produced 29,212,600 tons of crude oil which is by 46.3% more versus the corresponding period of the last year, the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan told Trend.

In this period the volume of gas production in the country reached 6,097,1bln cu m, or by 18.1% more against the corresponding period of the last year. According to the State Statistics Committee, the increase in the oil and gas production volumes has occurred mainly due to AIOC (Azerbaijan International Operating Company). Over the past 11 months of 2006, AIOC has produced 21mln tons of oil and 2,100bln cu m of gas. The both volumes in aggregate exceed the last year figures by 78.3%.

In this period, Azerbaijan has generated 21,448bln KW/hour of electric power. The volume exceeds the last year figures by 6%, with 10.9% of them falling at the hydro electric power stations, and 89.1% - on the heat power plants.

In January-November, 2006, Azerbaijan generated heat energy at the volume of 4, 634,7 HCal, or by 21.8% more than last year.
