At present the energy production in Azerbaijan, at the expense of alternative sources, is very expensive and ineffective. Therefore, at present it is more effective and cheaper to use our oil and gas resources, Azerbaijani Minister of Industry & Energy, Natig Aliyev, stated on 17 January, Trend reports.
All over the world, especially in Europe, the production of 1kVt/h electricity amounts to $0.12 irrespective of alternative resources of electricity (water, wind or sun energy). This figure in Azerbaijan is three times cheaper due to the use of oil and gas, the Minister said.
There is a need to have commercial bases to realize the projects on creating alternative energy sources. Implementation of laws, rules and conditions are necessary for entrepreneurs to participate in the projects. The projects on alternative energy sources may be made possible only at the expense of private companies, the Minister said.
At the moment the Ministry intends to define the areas where these projects are possible and profitable. A map will be prepared. However, the Minister stressed that it needs to make amendments to the legislation.
