Oil&Gas Materials 29 March 2007 14:58 (UTC +04:00)

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. S. Aliyev / Nail Amirov, the Chief Engineer of the Baku-based Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery Plant, reported that the Plant is expected to resume production of petroleum coke.

The plant was interrupted due to lack of fuel, after mazut was used to heat the electric power station operating in the country to generate power at the time when Azerbaijan repudiated from importing Russian gas, since January 2007.

The electric power stations are expected to reduce the use of mazut starting from April which will allow the delivery of mazut to be resumed to the coking plant. A number of technical measures to be taken will also enable the increase of refining oil from 65% to 70-72% within Company. The Oil Refinery Plant is expected to produce a total of 5 mln tons of oil products in 2007, that may exceed the corresponding indicator registered in 2006.

In particular, the production of petrol is expected to increase up to 1 mln. tons, 10-15% more against the corresponding indicator registered in 2006.
