Statoil Official on Shah Deniz Project to Discuss the Establishment of Energy Community in Southeastern Europe

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend / The Manager of the Norwegian company Statoil on the Azerbaijani project Shah Deniz, Helge Billington, will participate in the first meeting of experts to be organized by the Southeast European Energy Institute of Greece in Salonniki during 28-29 June, Greek media reports.

The meeting is organized amid the international concerns on the security of energy tranport.

Along with representatives of Statoil, key speakers at the meeting are the Chairman of the Hellenic Transmission System Operator, Michael Lufir from the National Bank of Greece, Narsi Gorban, the Research Director of the Iranian International Institute of Caspian Studies, and Kursat Kapanoglu, a representative of the Turkish company, Botas.

The key objective of the meeting will be the establishment of an energy community in the southeast European countries, investments and liberalization of the market, the environmental protection and climate change.

Statoil is a commercial operator for the Azerbaijani gas export from Shah Deniz under Stage 1.
