Tariff Council of Azerbaijan do not Plan to Increase Tariffs for Energy Resources

Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend I.Khalilova / The Tariff Council of Azerbaijan refutes rumors in the press regarding a price increase in energy resources.

The Ministry of Economic Development reports that the former Department Chief of the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan, Oktay Akhverdiyev, stated that tariffs for energy resources will be increased in the near future and a resolution has been prepared on it.

The Ministry states that the Tariff Council considers these rumors groundless because the Tariff Council has not received appeals to reconsider the tariffs for energy resources. The final decision to increase tariffs for energy resources was made on 8 January 2007. According to the decision of the council, the price for А-95 benzene increased to AZN 0.60, А-92 and А-80 - AZN 0.55 and diesel fuel - AZN 0.45. The cost of 1 KWt/h electricity increased to AZN 0.6.
