The prices of seasonal vegetables in stores and markets of Kazakhstan rose sharply in October, says a report by EnergyProm.kz.
Cucumbers rose in price by 13.7 percent compared to September, tomatoes - by 11.2 percent, and cabbage - by 1.2 percent. Meanwhile, carrots fell in price by 17 percent, beets - by 11.9 percent, onions - by 10.8 percent and potatoes - by 7.9 percent.
As for fruit, oranges increased in price most notably - by 4.6 percent, while apples, on the contrary, fell in price by 5.3 percent in October.
Prices of poultry products continue to increase: chicken - by 3.8 percent, and eggs - by 6.5 percent. There was also an increase in the prices of dairy products: raw milk increased in price by 2.8 percent, and butter - by 1 percent.
Of the groceries, sugar price rose markedly - by 4.6 percent, sunflower oil - by 2 percent, mayonnaise - by 1.3 percent, candy and caramel - by 1.1-1.2 percent, and margarine - by 1.1 percent.
