Number of transactions on corporate securities increases in Azerbaijan

Total volume of operations on corporate securities in Baku Stock Exchange (BSE) amounted to 1.13 billion manat ($664,705) in 2019, Trend reports referring to BSE’s reporting data on Jan. 9.

“The number of transactions in corporate securities was 941.06 million manat ($553.5 million) in 2018. Thus, the growth in the total volume of operations for the year amounted to 20 percent,” BSE said.

“Among the operations, 59 transactions worth 167 million manat ($98.2 million) were made in the primary market, which is 2.3 times less than in 2018. Some 25 transactions of these were made on mortgage bonds in the total amount of 151 million manat ($88.8 million) (dropped by 24.7 percent),” the exchange said.

“Three shares were sold with a total amount of 700,000 manat ($411,764) in the primary market in 2019, and 121 shares worth 171.8 million manat ($101 million) were sold in 2018,” BSE said.

“The secondary market carried out 2,606 operations with a total volume of 962.1 million manat ($565.9 million). Their specific share was 85 percent of the total amount and 98 percent of the total number of transactions in corporate securities. Also, 2069 shares worth 3.3 million manat ($1.94 million) were sold in the secondary market, which is almost 13 times less than in 2018,” the exchange said.

“Repo transactions on corporate securities amounted to 9.9 million manat (dropped 2.7 times). In total, 18 repo deals on corporate securities were carried out on the Baku Stock Exchange in 2019. This is almost half as much as in the previous year,” BSE said.
