CBI governor visits Iraq to flesh out banking issues, resolve problems

TEHRAN, Iran, Oct. 12

The governor of the Central Bank of Iraq Mustafa Ghalib Makhif met with his Iranian counterpart Abdul Nasser Hemmati in Baghdad to discuss resolving the banking issues between the two countries, Trend reports via IRNA.

Makhif referred to Iraq's efforts to continue banking cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran and use Tehran's experience in finance and banking.

Makhif went on to say that Iraq applies all efforts to hav the cooperation between the two countries to develop further.

“Iraq tries to resolve Iran's existing financial and monetary issues,” he added.

The governor of the Central Bank of Iraq added that there are some mechanisms that can be used to help strengthen banking and monetary cooperation between the two countries.

He proposed to form a joint committee with the presence of banking and financial officials of the two countries in order to reach the necessary solution to resolve the common issues of Iran and Iraq.

Hemmati in turn, expressed hope that with the cooperation of his Iraqi counterpart, complex banking issues between the two countries will be resolved.
