Azerbaijan registers increase in transactions through internet banking

The money transfers through internet banking increased by 63 percent up to 142.1 billion manat ($83.6 billion) while the number of transactions - by 69.6 percent up to 9.5 million in Azerbaijan in 2021 compared to 2020, Trend reports citing to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

According to the data, there were 76 million money transfers worth 224.5 billion manat ($132.05 billion) from current accounts of bank customers in 2021. Some 80 percent of money transfers (60.4 million) in the amount of 163.1 billion manat $95.9 billion (73 percent) were conducted through digital banking.

The volume of transactions increased by 2.8 times up to 3.9 billion manat ($2.3 billion) while the number of transactions - by 6.3 percent up to 38.6 million through mobile banking in 2021.

Some 24 out of 26 banks operating in the country render internet banking services while 22 banks - mobile banking services in Azerbaijan as of January 1, 2022.
